

Betty Jean Johnson Broussard was the eldest child of three children born to the union of Leslie Sr. and Toney Atlene Johnson. She was born and rasied in Houston, Texas where she graduated from Booker T Washington class of 1959. She became a lifetime member of Booker T Washington Alumni Association faithfully until she was called home. In additon she attended PraireView Nursing school and Houston Community College as History Major with a passion for black History. At an early age she accepted Christ, and was a memeber of Greater New Hope Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member under Pastor Herman Price and then Pastor Dickson until her death. She was a pillar of her community and served as a Delgate on the Congressional Black Caucus. She became the first black female automotive sales woman and manager for Sears where she recieved many awards including top sales person. In additon she was the automotive manger at Montgomery Ward until they closed and lastly she was a crossing guard supervisor for HISD until she retired.
Betty was married to Foreign Broussard Jr. and from that union four children were born. Foreign Broussard III, LaNunn Broussard, Toney Flournoy (Ahmad) and Elizabeth Broussard. She is precceded in death by her Parents , her brother (Leslie Jr.) and her daughter Elizabeth. She leaves to mourn her children, her grandchildren, Chad, Ashley, Amanda, Sterling (Haylee), & Heather. Great Granchildren Tyler, Mckenley, Sidney, Alaia and Anndrue. Her sister Nanette Delasbour (Elmo - deceased) and Nieces and Nephews Antionette, Leslie III (Maine), Willie, Anita and Leslie. Her bestfriends James Spark and
Dee Powell and host of family friends and neighbors.
A visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 3:45 PM to 4:00 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
