Betty was born on October 6, 1939, in Jilotepec, Mexico to James May and Consuelo Martinez. She then moved to San Antonio at a young age where she entered the world of modeling and went on to graduate from Brackenridge High School. It was in San Antonio where she met and married her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 67 years, the Honorable Manuel D. Leal Jr, on July 16, 1957.
She had numerous passions in life she would share with her dearest family and friends. Having a natural skill in the kitchen and a talent for cooking delicious recipes handed down from previous family generations, she would prepare feasts to remember. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to many places and countries to see the world and its glorious splendors. Joy was always found in her garden with her beautiful flowers for every season, and a keen eye for her home and holiday decorating was always on display. She had a deep appreciation for classical music, and one could always find her watching her favorite movies with her precious dog, Zoe by her side. Her warm smile, witty sense of humor, her infectious laugh, and loving grace will be missed in this world but enjoyed by all in Heaven.
Betty is survived by her husband, the Honorable Manuel D Leal Jr, her daughter Laura Leal Romo and husband Daniel Romo, her son Manuel Leal III, wife Lydia Leal, grandsons Ryan Leal and David Leal, and two great grandsons.
