I still find it difficult to believe that Louis is really gone. When I take time to think about growing up in Houston with Louis, to steal a line from the movie, Field of Dreams, "the emotions are so strong I almost have to  reach up and brush them away !"  There are too many memories (and  a few are not for publication) to recount but I will say one more time that Louis and I were BFFs before BFFs was a thing!

My best to Carolyn,  Lisa and Perry. And I look forward to laughing with Louis again when I am promoted.  I miss you, my friend!

My big brother Louis Noack, who was Louie to me, was more than just a brother. He was the person that I always looked up to and trusted. When we were young he taught me so much about sports, school, family, friends and just about everything. He was always telling me about something that was interesting as well as informative , but unfortunately I didn't always listen. Louie was my hero who protected me from the "big kids" when we had Christmas tree fort battles. We had a blast on vacations and at the local pool in our neighborhood of Southside where we played ball tag and would have horse fights. Louie was a teaser and along with the lifeguards coined the name for me  "the thin man". As a rather husky kid it was not my favorite nickname but as the years went by we both laughed about it. Life was good having him as my brother growing up.

Louie's sudden passing left me grasping for words to say.  He always maintained his friendships with his buddies that he grew up with. Most of all is how much he loved his wife Carolyn, of 52 years, and Lisa his beautiful daughter. His devotion, kindness and loyalty to them is a testimony to Louie's character and love.

Louie and I attended West University Baptist church growing up and were both baptized there. He knew the Lord Jesus. We talked and prayed together when he was in the hospital about faith in our Lord. Now he will be with the Lord forever and rest in peace.

Finally, I was blessed to have the best big brother that will be in my heart and soul forever. The joyful, fun and happy memories are the ones that all of us will cherish!

I'm really at a loss for words!  All I can say is that you were way too young to be leaving us. You were always close to me as you were my "Little Brother" at Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity at the University of Houston. I will always remember the fun things we did  at the U of H , plus the times when  we saw each other through the years. You will be missed and will always be in our hearts.

To say that Louis and I were friends for more than 65 years does not really describe the relationship that we had for almost 6 decades. Despite seldom seeing each other in person since we both graduated from college and only talking by phone or email periodically over the years, we were BFF's before BFF's came to exist. Louis and I played sports together, double dated on numerous occasions from age 12 until we both married, attended fraternity parties together, stayed in each others' homes on weekends, took dance lessons together in the Village, and went on "field trips" (to Freeport, Galveston, Garner State Park , my folks' bay house, squirrel hunting with  his Dad in East Texas, and numerous other venues that I have  worked hard over the years to forget). I was there when Louis and Carolyn first began dating and I remember the twinkle in his eye when he first introduced her to me.  I remember Louis fishing me out of the Frio River when I dove in the river after an afternoon rainfall and didn't see the ledge that knocked me out and left me floating in the river. To steal a line from the movie, Field of Dreams, I  almost have to reach up and brush the  memories of our adolescent lives together away they are so thick today!

Carolyn knows how much I loved them both and I don't have the words to express how deeply saddened I am that I will not see or talk to my friend again in this life. But I am confident that I will see Louis again and I am convinced that heaven is an even brighter place after Louis was "promoted" earlier this week. God bless my friend Louis and his lifetime soul mate, Carolyn, and precious daughter, Lisa. I love you each with all my heart.

I am praying for Carolyn and Lisa to find both peace and strength.  I am very sorry for your loss.  Louis brings so many fond memories.  He always smiled and would ask about my life growing up, then my family... He actually introduced  me to my first white wine, and how to make excellent asparagus.  He will be missed.

CLARENCE!!??  I’ve known Louis for over 60 years and do not ever remember him saying his first name was Clarence.  He never even referred to himself as Louie or Lou—always Louis.  He was a devoted husband to Carolyn and loving father to Lisa.  He treated people with the utmost respect and honesty.  To me, his loyalty to friends was always one of his top characteristics, as the story below will illustrate. Louis was always proud of his German heritage and loved his Dachshunds and home-made beer. We eventually both became CPAs and worked for the same “Big 8” accounting firm.  Louis will be severely missed by all who knew him—both personally and professionally.

It was late summer in the mid-60’s that Louis asked me to be a guest at a party his UofH fraternity was throwing.  Classes had not started at UT and I was still at home, so I accepted.  He and Carolyn (whom had won Louis’ heart) were part of the crowd at the party when I arrived.  No one seemed familiar to me, so I decided to have some fun.  The third of three ‘spaghetti westerns’ that starred Clint Eastwood had just been released—The Good, the Bad & the Ugly.  The music associated with those films was, and still is, so recognizable that I thought everyone knew the name of the composer, Ennio Merricone.  Not true.  Therefore, I began introducing myself using his name, but as an exchange student from the Universadad de Roma attending UofH to study “Politikal Skyance.”  As expected, no one believed me, except one! This is where Louis’ loyalty was tested. The following Monday night at Louis’ fraternity meeting, the name of Ennio Merricone was brought up by one of his brothers as someone they should consider rushing for membership in the fraternity.  Obviously, the individual was humiliated and swore he would never talk to Louis again.  I do not know if that continued until present time, but I do know that Louis was always a loyal friend of mine and we shared many laughs and sorrows over the next 50+ years.
