Carl Jan Bowles

Carl Jan Bowles, born October 1, 1952, passed away on December 31, 2024, at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, CJ Bowles Jr. and Margaret Lee Bowles, as well as his sister, Linda Lee Gregory.

At a young age, Carl was baptized into the Church of Christ, and he maintained a deep love for God throughout his life. Carl proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. After his service, he embarked on a fulfilling and dynamic life, which included being an entrepreneur who owned and operated his own sign company for a time, showcasing his creativity and knowledge passed down from his father. Carl found immense joy in the great outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, or simply spending cherished moments with family. He found solace and spiritual connection in the great outdoors, and his happiest moments often included soaring through the clouds in his plane, a pursuit he enjoyed for a significant part of his life.

Carl’s memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family, including his wife, Shelli Bowles; his children: CJ (Tiffany) Bowles, Jerrod (Nora) Bowles, Alana (Jason) Valdez, and Adam (Angela) Palmer; as well as his beloved grandchildren: Brennan, Cailey, Kenzie, Trinity, Ashlin, Emma, Nicole, Cody, Bo, Matthew, Ever, Xavier, Jason, Natalie, Jadyn, and Ariana: and a great-grandchild expected in April. He also leaves behind his brother Barney (Linda) Bowles along with a close knit family of nieces, nephews and cousins that helped shape his life and love of family.

Carl’s legacy is one of love for family and a deep appreciation for life’s simple yet profound joys. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation for Carl will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A committal service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.

Serving as pallbearers are Buddy Benton, Scott Edmonds, Parker Edmonds, Bradley Edmonds, Cody Bishop, Hayden Bishop, Brian Edmonds and Brennan Bowles.
