

Carl S. Frazier, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born on October 19, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Mildred and Floyd Frazier. Carl was raised in North Coffeyville and graduated from Coffeyville High School. After graduating, he attended and graduated from Coffeyville Junior College with his Associates Degree while working at the local post office. Carl met Claravon Bauer and they married on July 18, 1949.
Carl relocated to Lawrence, Kansas where he attended and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in electrical engineering. After graduation, they moved to
Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Carl began his career with Collins Radio. In August 1959, the family moved to Richardson, Texas where Carl was doing work for NASA’s Apollo Space Program. In 1974, they moved to Stavanger, Norway where he began working for Phillips Petroleum’s offshore communications project in the North Sea until his retirement. In 1987, Carl went back to work for the government in Ogden, Utah at Hill Air Force Base, officially retiring in 1990.
Carl and Claravon lived in Evergreen, Colorado from 1990 until 2002 when they moved to Houston to be closer to the family. He and Claravon were members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Carl’s favorite hobby growing up was ham radios. His call sign K5YRJ, LA0BJ (Norway) and finally NF5E. 73 and 88's everyone.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 61 years, Claravon Frazier. He is survived by his children, David Frazier and companion Cheryl Price of Dallas, Texas, Paul Frazier and wife Paula of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Norton and husband Rick of Houston, Texas, and Bill Frazier and wife Carol of Spring, Texas; his 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers, Don E. Frazier of Punta Gorda, Florida and Jerry Frazier of Lawrence, Kansas.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 until 8 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home at Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068, with a Rosary at 7 PM. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Road, Houston, TX 77084. Rite of Committal will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
