A celebration of his life will be held on October 4th at Brookside Funeral Home.
Carl was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on December 30, 1972. He grew up with a passion for life and a talent for just about everything he tried. In his youth, he played baseball, football, tennis, and soccer—and even raced dirt bikes. He was a natural athlete, excelling across the board, and always surrounded by friends drawn to his magnetic personality.
As he entered high school, Carl chose to focus on tennis and played for Conroe High School, graduating in 1991. He later attended Southwest Texas State University and Sam Houston State University, where he met Shelly, who would become his first wife. Together, they raised two sons, Corbin and Colton.
Carl was incredibly proud of both of his sons. Corbin graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Colton, a lineman who enjoys working with his hands, is known for his talents, hard work, and versatility.
In his later years, Carl moved to Mérida, Mexico, where he found peace and joy with his second wife, Paola. Together, they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—traveling, spending time at the beach, and sharing meaningful moments. Carl also formed a special bond with his stepson, Christopher, as they taught each other their native languages and learned from one another.
Carl is survived by his wife Paola; stepson Christopher; sons Corbin and Colton; and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who will forever remember his warmth, laughter, and larger-than-life stories.
Carl will be remembered for his free spirit, his deep connection with people, and his remarkable gift for storytelling. To know Carl was to hear a story—told like no one else could—and to feel like you were part of something special.
In honor of Carl’s vibrant spirit, the family kindly asks that men wear Hawaiian shirts and women dress in bright, lively colors to the celebration.
