Carolyn Juanita Mitchell Brock of Houston, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born in Houston, Texas, on January 3, 1934, to Viva Juanita (Weishuhn) and Garnett Buren Mitchell, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garnett Buren Mitchell, Sr. and Viva Juanita Mitchell, her brother, Garnett Buren Mitchell, Jr., and her loving husband of 60 years, George Wesley Brock
and great grandson Isaac George Gammenthaler. Carolyn is survived by her son, Richard Allen Brock, daughters, Cindy Burchfield (Randy), and Nancy Brock; granddaughter Mandy Gammenthaler (Kyle), great grandchildren Grant, Emma, Ben, and Abby Gammenthaler.
Carolyn attended Reagan High School and Southwestern Business School. She worked at Southern Pacific Railroad where she met Johnnie Brock, who would introduce her to her future husband, George. Carolyn and George were married on October 15, 1955, at West End Baptist Church in Houston. Carolyn and George lived briefly in El Campo, Texas, before returning to Houston. Carolyn was a stay-at-home mom, and when the children got older, she worked at Lanier Middle School as an attendance clerk and then moved to the Exxon Credit Card Center before retiring in 1994.
Her greatest loves were her FAITH, her husband, her family, the Houston Astros, and playing chicken-foot dominoes. Carolyn loved to cook and was best known for her deviled eggs, banana pudding, and pancakes.
Carolyn was a 73-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as secretary for many of those years. She spent many hours volunteering as a PTA mom, a Cub Scout leader, and would help drive dear friends to M.D. Anderson for treatment as well as shopping for their groceries. She made numerous meals for those in need. She selflessly served others with her kind and loving heart.
As a 34 year member of Second Baptist Church, she served the Lord through her work with the Friendship Mission Group in the Ticket to Heaven Bible study class. She had a true calling to the mission programs and enjoyed folding Sunday bulletins and playing dominoes with the Triple L group each week. Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have the hope and promise that we will see Carolyn again in Heaven one day. She is healed. She is in the arms of Jesus and with her loved ones for Eternity!
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Denise Terrick and Ida Armstrong with All Phase for their loving and tender care as Carolyn’s daily caretakers for three years.
The graveside service is to be held at the Earthman-Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church Mission Fund-Boys and Girls Country.
