Carolyn White

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Daniel (Dan) White; parents Vernon and Clara White Warren; brothers Horace and Everett; and, sister Helen.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise Jones and husband Bob and Karla Ofield and husband Mark; grandchildren Jessica Jones (Manuel Salgado), Sean Ofield (Ashley Ofield), Danielle Jones (Jared Jones), Sam Ofield, and Danny Ofield (Regan Saunders); and, great-grandchildren Grayson, Aidan, River, and Autumn.

Carolyn was born in Prescott, Arkansas on April 9, 1932, the youngest of Vernon and Clara’s four children. After marrying her husband Dan and the births of their two daughters Denise and Karla in Arkansas, the family lived in Texas, Colorado, and South Dakota before putting down roots in Houston.

They joined Bellaire United Methodist Church shortly thereafter, where Carolyn’s many contributions to her community of faith were cherished. She was a member of the Seekers Sunday School class, the United Methodist Women, and the Ruth Circle for 41 years, and she taught Sunday School, helped with the Gathering Place, and freely gave of her time and gifts wherever she saw a need.

She lived a life of service, filled with grace and unconditional love. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at the Methodist Hospital Gift Shop for many years, helping connect visitors with items of comfort, joy, and condolence. She also served her community, and always supported her children’s activities.

She loved travel, reading, time spent with friends and family, and living life to the fullest.

Her husband Dan was the love of her life, and by extension there was no end to the depths of love for their family. She leaves them with many treasured memories of adventures she shared, clothes she sewed, needlepoint she stitched, recipes she cooked, and a sense of being loved and cared for in a way that endures beyond her earthly presence.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Bellaire United Methodist Church. Donations in her memory may be made to:
