Caryne Morency

When my BELOVED and BEAUTIFUL WIFE Caryne was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in November 2019, a wave of fear swept over me. It was the first time I truly faced the possibility of losing my wonderful wife of 27 years. I quickly realized that nothing in life should be taken for granted.

From that moment on, whenever I heard the dreaded word "cancer", I made a conscious decision to spend every precious moment with Caryne, embracing life to the fullest together. We chose to forget the ups and downs of our 27 years together and focus instead on making the most of the six years she would spend fighting this terrible illness.

Throughout her treatment, Caryne often told me she was enjoying life more than ever and considered it one of the best periods of her life. This surprised me, given the daily challenges she faced. It made me realize how often couples fail to truly appreciate their time together. Our decision to prioritize each other from that day forward made those years the most meaningful we had shared-whether playing LUDO, cooking and eating meals together, or simply being side by side wherever we went.

There is an important lesson in our experience: never take your spouse for granted or assume you will always be forever together.

Caryne was a fighter, a devoted wife and mother, and an intelligent woman from whom I learned so much, especially about work ethic, managing risks, finance, and saving. She was also incredibly forgiving; even our most heated arguments were resolved by the next day.

After 33 years of marriage, I had hoped for another 17 years to reach a golden anniversary; however, God had other plans, which I must accept.

I find comfort in knowing Caryne left behind three wonderful sons, a beautiful grandson, and the best family in-laws anyone could wish for. Now, I pray for the strength she had so I can carry on her legacy of dignity and love, honoring her memory by living in a way she would be proud of, and I hope to be reunited with her one day in heaven.
