Catherine "Daisy" MacKrell Lueck

December 12, 1933 – June 13, 2025

Catherine MacKrell Lueck was born on December 12, 1933, in New York, the cherished daughter of Irish immigrants Mary Catherine MacKrell and Patrick Joseph MacKrell. She was raised alongside her beloved brother, Patrick Thomas MacKrell, in a household filled with strong faith and deep-rooted values.

On September 5, 1959, Catherine married the love of her life, George A. Lueck. Their enduring marriage spanned 52 beautiful years until George’s passing in September 2011. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children, first in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and later in Houston, Texas, where they moved in 1979.

Catherine enjoyed a fulfilling career as an executive secretary at the Texaco Company, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring.

A devout Catholic, Catherine’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary and prayed the rosary daily. She was a familiar and beloved presence at church functions, often volunteering her time at bazaars and community events.

Catherine’s true passion, however, was caring for others—especially through food. An exceptional cook, her kitchen was the heart of her home. No one ever left her home without sharing a fantastic meal accompanied by a good story or unsolicited advice about your life. These cherished moments filled with warmth, laughter, and love became treasured memories.

She also had a deep love for music and dancing, often leading to spontaneous dance lessons for the children. Her joy was infectious, and her sense of humor unforgettable.

Catherine is survived by her loving children, Catherine Lueck Zabel, Eileen Lueck McDonald, and George Lueck; her sons-in-law, Tom Zabel and Michael McDonald; and her beloved granddaughter, Mary Catherine Lueck Zabel, affectionately known as Catie. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends who quickly became family.

Catherine’s legacy is one of faith, family, generosity, and joy. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she so lovingly created.
