Cecil Wayne Sellers, 84, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2026, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, surrounded by his immediate family after a long and courageous struggle.
Born on May 1, 1941, in Belton, Texas, to parents Millard Sellers and Christine Sellers, Wayne grew up with a strong sense of family and community that would define his life. A longtime resident of Houston and The Woodlands, he built a meaningful life rooted in hard work, deep friendships, and quiet joys. Wayne pursued higher education with dedication, attending Texas Tech University before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston. He enjoyed a successful career in professional pharmaceutical sales in the Houston area, where his integrity, knowledge, and warm demeanor earned him lasting respect among colleagues and clients alike.
A man of many interests, Wayne found great pleasure in the outdoors—fishing, pheasant hunting, and camping alongside dear friends—and in travel that broadened his horizons. He was a voracious reader, always surrounded by books, and had a keen appreciation for art that he collected and cherished. His yard was a testament to his nurturing spirit, blooming with favorite flowers, particularly his beloved hibiscus array.
Wayne was a faithful member of The Woodlands Christian Church, where he actively participated in the Church Men's Group, finding fellowship and spiritual strength among his brothers in faith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Sellers; his stepdaughter, Keely Franklin; his brother, Tom Sellers; and a great-grandchild, Asther.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Colleen Sellers Penley and her husband Clarke Penley of Tupelo, Mississippi; his brother, Bill Sellers of Houston, Texas; a sister, Bettye Beckman of New Braunfels, Texas; his stepson, Cliff Franklin of Houston, Texas; his granddaughter, Cailin Console and her husband Bradley Console of Booneville, Mississippi; and his beloved great-grandson, Eoghan Clarke Console.
In accordance with Wayne's wishes, no traditional services will be held. Instead, a Celebration of Life will take place on May 1, 2026—his birthday—with additional details to be announced in due course.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Wayne's name to the charitable efforts of Kiwanis or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, organizations close to his heart that reflect his generosity and care for others.
Wayne lived a full and gracious life, marked by love for his family, loyalty to friends, and a quiet appreciation for the beauty in everyday moments. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
