Butch leaves behind his soulmate, best friend, and wife of over 46 years, Elizabeth (Beth) Dobbs. His name and legacy proudly live on through his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren: Brandon Dobbs and his wife Abby, along with their two children and one on the way; Hayden Dobbs and his wife Kendall, with their three children.
Butch attended Scarborough High School, where he was an accomplished football player and led the city of Houston in rushing yards. After graduation, he began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry, working in the oil fields of South Texas, Houston, and offshore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea.
Always the gentleman, but a man's man through and through, Butch enjoyed the finer things in life, including motorcycles, hot rods, maintaining a pristine lawn, and golfing with his buddies. Known affectionately as a pool shark and BBQ pit master, his greatest joy came from the roles he cherished most - being called friend, husband, Dad and Pops.
Over four years ago, Butch faced a tough diagnosis but chose to fight courageously. His initial goal was to see his first grandchild born, but his fighter’s heart, God’s grace, and love for family allowed him to witness the births of five beautiful grandchildren.
A funeral will be held on July 25th, 2025, at Brookside Funeral Home (9149 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77095). Visitation will begin at 1 PM, with the service following at 2 PM. All are welcome to gather, celebrate, and honor Butch’s incredible life. In lieu of flowers he requested donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
