

Bishop McCall is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his son, Russell McCall, and partner, Dena Thomas; daughter, Kellie Reedy, and husband, Patrick; sister, Vivian Burke; granddaughter, Iris Bleu Reedy; nephew, Derek Yount and wife, Carye: nephew, Allen Adams, and wife Tina.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston Devere (Jack) McCall and his mother, Evy Mae Powell McCall, and his sisters, Ruby McCall Alexander and Bessie McCall Adams.
Bishop McCall graduated from Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas, in 1958. He served in the Navy for six years under President Eisenhower on the USS Gearing (DD-710). He married his childhood sweetheart, Kay Lynne Miller, in 1959. Upon completing his military commission, he joined the NBEW, where he enjoyed a successful career as an electrician with Fisk Electric in Houston, Texas.
He served in many areas of service at Greater Bethel Tabernacle and Mt. Houston Pentecostal Church. Bishop McCall served as pastor of the First United Church of High Island from November 10, 1979. He served in the capacity of pastor until 2023, when he was promoted to the position of Bishop, where he served until he left this life to be with his Lord. Additionally, he served as Section 2 Sunday School Director of the Texas District UPCI for 20 years. Pastor McCall loved the Bolivar Peninsula community, and although he received many opportunities to serve in other cities, his heart would not allow him to leave. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
The family would like to acknowledge Bro. and Sis. Anton Smikal for their friendship, spiritual guidance, and true ministerial service to our family. A special note of appreciation for Bro. and Sis. MacDonald for their unwavering friendship. Deepest gratitude to Bobby and Tina Gillie, our longtime neighbors, for their many acts of kindness and care, along with Gary Byerly and Barb Schley, who have truly exhibited the true heart of a servant. Words are not enough to express the depth of our love. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of compassion that we have received. We appreciate each and every one of you.
