Charlie served a total of 13 years in the Texas National Guard and U.S. Army. He worked for Lee Way Motor Freight for 32 years. After his retirement he drove a school bus for Aldine ISD for 15 years where he was lead driver for Eisenhower Sr High School band.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Alvy T. McQueen, James L. McQueen, William D. McQueen, Jr., and half-sister Virginia McQueen Smith.
Survivors include his wife Joyce A. McQueen, three sons Charles Wayne and wife Patti of Kingwood Texas, Ronald Doyle and wife Cindi of Montgomery Texas, James Wesley of Cleveland, Texas, daughter Cyndi McQueen Fleming and husband Michael of Cypress Texas, daughter-in-law Debbie McQueen of Temple Texas, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, 2 half-brothers Thomas McQueen, Henry McQueen, half-sister Annie McQueen Champion and many other relatives and friends.
Before moving to Montgomery he was a long-time member of Woodland Christian Church and later Oaks Christian Church. He then join Montgomery United Methodist Church. Charlie was a member of Melrose Lodge #1294, Scottish Rite and a Shriner.

He coached girls softball, boys softball and Little League Football.
