Charlotte Swann Wilke was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 17, 1934, and spent much of her childhood and early adulthood in Sanford, Florida. She passed away in Houston, Texas on August 9, 2020 at the age of 86.
Charlotte was retired from a long career managing operators for Southwestern Bell (later AT&T), but never retired from being a loving wife, stepmother, step grandmother and step great-grandmother. She loved music, travelling, Texas, entertaining, playing dominos, coconut, pineapple, and playing with her great-grandsons. Charlotte spent many summers in Chama, New Mexico with her husband, Marvin, organizing potlucks, fishing, sightseeing, waiting for the steam train, and listening to the campground folk bands play.
On August 9, 1975, Charlotte was married to Marvin Earl Wilke, who passed away last summer. She is survived by her loving step family: daughters Polly Wilke and partner Michael Crunk, and Christina Horelica and husband Randy Horelica; grand-daughter Natasha Horelica and boyfriend John Martinez; and great-grandsons and Juan "Johnson" Martinez III, and Marvin Jack Martinez. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Swann and his wife, Dottie; sister Frances Lee; sister-in-law Alice Swann; sister-in-law Patty Swann; and brother-in-law Marshal Wilke. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, all of whom are loved.
Charlotte is pre-deceased by her parents, Ora Mae Swann and George Leslie Swann, Sr.; brothers Richard Swann and George Swann, Jr.; and brother-in-law Don Lee, who are waiting in heaven to greet her.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Swann, Steve Swann, David Lee, Marshal Wilke, Randy Horelica and Michael Crunk.
