My deepest sympathy to my Aunt Lupe and all  her children. My Uncle Cande was a big inspiration to my growth. He tought us how to always laugh and do things right ,enjoy things while you have them bc they might not be here forever. He definitely tought his family those values as we see. I have lots of great memories with him and my Dad that I will always cherish. What a great man in all ways. I will always miss you and thank you for sharing your honorable journey with me. You are the best ....

Cande was such a special human being.  Definitely a rare thing to find so many beautiful qualities in one person.   He was so kind & humble; and never met a stranger.   Not to mention he had the most contagious smile!   I have the fondest memories from my youth of many wonderful times spent with the Lopez family- Memories I will forever cherish.   

I will greatly miss you Uncle Cande.  You were such a joy to be around and I know Mom appreciated all your visits to see her at the nursing home.  You made everyone smile/laugh whenever you were around.  

There was another side of you though, that very special comforter when Daddy died.  You were there with us and after he was buried, you came by and you and I sat and talked about Daddy and you comforted me and said we would see him again some day.  Little did we know that you would be seeing him first.

You never met a stranger.  You were always ready to make someone's day.

You are now a beautiful shining star!  Looking forward to seeing you again one day!

Dear Aunt Lupe, Cindy, Dorothy, Candido and family

Our thoughts and prayers are with y'all during this difficult time.  May Our Lord wrap his arms around you and comfort you.  I have so many memories that I will cherish of Uncle Cande. I still have the hope chest that he made me. I still use it.  I will always remember how all the Lopez brothers and Grandpa were jokester. Always making everyone  laugh. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend.  He will be missed by many.  Love, Rosie and Steven  ❤

I would like to acknowledge and provide tribute to Clarence Lopez.  One of eleven children to Trinidad and Mirabel Lopez.  He was a very medicinal man unselfishly spreading his medication with everyone.  He had many names: Clarence, Cande, Mr. Lopez, Dad, but to me he was my “Uncle Cande.”  I have a plethora of memories of him.  However, I choose to acknowledge him for the gift he shared along with my parents, and that is “Work Ethic.”  You see, he allowed me to join his crew of trim carpenters when I was 8 yrs of age and continued working with/for him until the age of 18!  Those ten years were the most formative years of my life which provided for the strong work ethic and sense of purpose.  His ability to provide a work environment of balance: strong serious work and play.  There was always something to laugh about whether an incident, funny story, or him being his humorous self.  His commitment to family was exemplified not only by his beautiful and wonderful wife, (Lupe);  his children, (Cindy, Dorothy and Candido), and also by our carpenter crew which, at one time, consisted of one brother, four nephews, two brothers-in-law, one cousin and two dear friends that were like family.  I recognize Uncle Cande as a person of perspective and ideas.  There were times I could only imagine where his thoughts were taking him as he stared into the sky.  He was one of the first persons to instill trust and confidence in me, where, at an early age of 10, he would ask me to drive his truck, (standard transmission), from one jobsite to another.  Needless to say, I was scared beyond means, however, he directed me as if I were just one of the guys who could effectively perform the task.  He recognized potential in a person and had a way of trusting them to produce it.  His life encompassed compassion, understanding, spirituality and especially love of family and life!  I mentioned earlier him being a medicinal man.  His medication – LAUGHTER!

Growing up I remember visiting Uncle Cande and Aunt Lupe. We'd go over on the weekends and spend the night. I have wonderful memories. I remember my dad and uncle Cande would sit and talk and we could hear their laughter. His laughter was contagious.  (You all know my dad was a character back then)  uncle Cande would laugh so much, sometimes it would bring him to tears. We had some great times.  I know he will be missed and remembered by many. 

Aunt Lupe and family, our deepest condolences on your loss.  May God comfort you, give you strength, and peace during this difficult time. We love you all.  

I wanted to share this picture of my dad and uncle Cande.  This was when he visited my dad in the nursing home.  

I was always pranking Mr. Lopez. He wasn't sure what to make of me. I certainly made him smile and laugh a lot. One time, he came into the newsroom with a ladder so he could replace an overhead light that was burned out. After setting up the ladder, he went back to the storeroom to fetch his tools and the bulb. I hid his ladder in my private office. He spent a good 30 minutes walking all over the place looking for his ladder. I acted like I was working. I could see out of my peripheral vision that he had stopped in front of my office door and was studying me. I had to bite back a grin. He kept looking, going back to the storeroom, back to the custodian supply closet, outside. Finally, when he was out of the room, I replaced the ladder. When he came back, he stopped in his tracks and stared at the ladder. Then he asked me who had put the ladder there. "Did you see who did it?" he asked. No, I wagged my head. "It's been there all the time. You kept walking right by it," I assured him. "I did?!!!" he responded. "It was there all the time?" "Yes," I replied, adding, "are you feeling OK? I saw you sit down just now and hold your head in your palms." "I sat down, just now? And held my hands on my face?" he responded. "Yes...Mr. Lopez, you're scaring me. Would you like me to call someone..." He just stared at me, looking to see the glint in my eyes that would give away the whole ruse...But I turned back to my computer and bit my lip...However, he just stood there for five minutes staring at me and I couldn't help but to snicker. then the game was up. Oh, the times I super-glued papers to the wastebasket or super-glued his gloves to the desk, toilet brushes, toilet plungers, coffee mugs...there were fake roaches, fake vomit, fake poo... Once, I laid out a trail of M&M's into my office and into a "trap" I had set up. "Did you catch anything?" he asked. "You!" I said. "You followed the candy in here, didn't you." "Yes, I did." he laughed. I was always hiding his hat, gloves..

I had the great pleasure and honor of working with C-Lo at the FBH Newspaper. I so looked forward to him coming by my office every day and "shooting the bull". Me giving him a hard time (just to do so) and he giving me a hard time for drinking too many Diet Cokes.  I will miss his smile and contagious laughter so VERY much. The FBH will be a much a dimmer place without him in it, but his memory will live on through our stories of him and the times we shared. My condolences to Lupe and family....may God's hands be upon you and comfort you all during this difficult time.
