

Clark was born on the 14th of June 1934 in Ridgway, Illinois. He served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Fort Davis, Canal Zone, Panama. He then attended his beloved University of North Carolina and earned both a BA and MD in 1958 and 1961, respectively. He was an ardent lifelong fan of the Tar Heels.
Dr. Hinkley served as a professor of obstetrics with Baylor College of Medicine for nearly 30 years and Chief of Obstetrics with the Harris County Hospital District for two decades, as well as associate professor of pediatrics. He also served as director and founder of the nurse midwifery program and director of maternal-fetal medicine programs with Baylor and the Texas Medical Center.

He is survived by his partner of 34 years, Pamela Holt; the mother of his children, Helen Hinkley; his daughters, Susan Hinkley, Charlotte Reddington, Catherine Gehrke; son, Clayton Hinkley; and grandchildren, Tyler and Shelby Reddington, and Allexis Hinkley. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Miller Hinkley, and mother, Margaret Potter Hinkley.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 6th of April, in the Jasek Chapel at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Dr. Linda Christians, Executive Pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, is to officiate.
