

Conerly Roy “Bud” Estes, Jr., 87, of Houston, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2016. Born on August 5, 1928 in Basile, Louisiana to Allene and Conerly Roy Estes, Sr., he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Beverly Brook Estes, his parents and his brother, Eugene Singleton Estes and son-in-law, Thomas L. Sims. Left to treasure his memory are his daughters and son-in-law, Kaye and Chris Loudermilk and Diane Sims, all of Houston, Texas. He is survived by five wonderful grandsons, Patrick, Connor and Harrison Loudermilk and Jackson and Kyle Sims. He is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Evertz of Mandeville, Louisiana; a brother, James Estes and wife, Mary, of Tyler, Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Estes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He proudly served his country in the 1st Calvary Division of the U.S. Army during World War II in the occupation of Japan. After concluding his service in the Army, Bud graduated from LSU with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He began his career in the oil fields before moving to Houston where he worked for more than fifty years in the oil and gas industry.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A man of strong faith, he was proud of his grandson Patrick’s affiliation with the Brotherhood Under Christ fraternity (BYX) at Texas A&M University. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the scholarship fund of the Texas A&M Chapter of Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX).
