Conrado Mendoza Maglalang was born on February 16, 1956 in Caloogan City, Philippines to Conrado Coronel Maglalang and Nieves Canlas Mendoza. He was the 2nd born among his siblings including Socorro Baluyut, Marilyn Miranda, Jeanette Tobola and adopted niece and nephew Michelle Savanh and Dharrell Maglalang. Conrado attended Baguio College Foundation where he studied in civil engineering. His earliest ambition was to become a soldier and travel, leading him to join the US Army in 1977 where he attained position as 1st Lieutenant and Captain and was even recalled to active duty with a promise to be promoted to Major, which he declined.
In 1979, he married Blesilda Ocampo. In 1982 they had their first daughter Katrina, in 1987 they welcomed their second daughter, Kory. Throughout his time in the U.S. Army, he traveled all over the U.S. and even overseas in Germany. Special achievements while serving in the Army included the 5th Award of Army Commendation and Liberation of Kuwait while he served in the Persian Gulf War. Later, he also served time in the US. Army Reserve and at the U.S. Post Office from which he retired.
Conrado's favorite past times included traveling, karaoking, and shooting pool. Whether traveling within the states or abroad, Conrado was always ready for a trip by either driving a small car and later a van, 18-wheeler, by boat or by plane. He was always ready for some adventure and both familiar and new sites to see. Conrado had a number of pool tables he owned in his life and attended many pool tournaments near and far.
Life after retirement allowed him to spend more time working on passive income by business and investments. He worked on cars, rented out many properties, invested in stocks, and finally built his dream home in the Philippines. During his final years he was able to spend more time with family and friends as he traveled back and forth between Houston and the Philippines. A husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, Grandpa, friend, a father figure to some, whether you knew him as Conrad, Conrado, Leng or Uncle Leng, he will be missed.
Conrado departed this life on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents Conrado Coronel Maglalang Sr and mother, Nieves Canlas Maglalang.
