Cora Whitley, age 97, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on May 22, 1927, to parents Floyd Cortines and Ella Casas Cortines. She met Jack Whitley in Nacogdoches and married on January 31, 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Whitley who passed in 1985; father, Floyd who passed in 1929; mother, Ella who passed in 1939; eldest sister, Maggie who raised the siblings with the help of their stepfather, John Poskey; youngest sister, Merlene who passed in 2001; and Virginia who passed in 2004.
Cora is survived her daughters, Linda Box and Sandy Whitley; grandchildren, Lori Morgan and Jack Anderson.
Serving as pallbearers are George Wright, Bill Wright, Dustin Hubbard, Curtis Norvell, Kevin Manning, and Brad Baker.
A visitation for Cora will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral will occur Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A graveside will occur Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
