Cory was my friend and my brother. There was so much that Cory and I shared - football, baseball,construction projects, music, music, MUSIC! He is always with me, in my heart.

I met Cory over 15yrs ago when Jill and I were in school. I still rember my first impression of what a grounded and humble person Cory was. With all his skills, talents, and a life filled with loved ones, Cory had every reason to feel both proud and fulfilled. But his humble demeanor and kind heart spoke volumes to his depth of character. We are better for having had Cory in our lives.

Cory was the better part of me.  I will love him forever.

We have so many great memories of Cory. I know Cory use to love to see any new electronic gadgets I got, and I would love to see his as well. I remember when he bought that new Samsung HD television. I came over to help him install the mount on the wall. He was so excited about that television, it really did have a great picture. I remember when Cory and I built that fence together behind and between our houses. That was probably one of my most enjoyable times of many spent with Cory. One thing I can say is, that fence was built well, and will probably withstand any other storm that comes. Jill, you and Cory were the best neighbors anyone could have ever asked for. You guys were the right neighbors at the right time in our lives. I just wish those years could have went on forever. We will miss Cory dearly. Jill you can always call us if you need anything.

I remember uncle cory being so nice And kind hearted to eveyone. He loved my aunt so much. They both were always smilling when they were together. You will be greatly missed by many . Im very glad i got to be a small part of your life and got to meet you. <3 p.s i know my dad will miss playing golf with you too

I met Cory through the persistence of Jill, my student worker at Kingwood College. She hounded me endlessly to get with Cory to play golf, so to quiet her I finally relented. That was almost 20 years ago. Cory and I became best friends and by far my favorite golf partner.
  We shared other interests besides golf. He and I trained together to learn to scuba dive and went on several exciting dive trips together.
   I always enjoyed listening to Cory play the guitar and I wish I could have listened to him more often. 
  I most admire Cory for the way he handled himself during his illness, I never heard him complain and usually heard him speak in a very positive tone, always thinking that he would recover. 
  Thanks for the friendship my friend, you will be missed.

There aren't enough words to describe how Randy, myself and the WHOLE extended MIEARS family felt about Cory, his Mom, Brother and ALL of their family. 

I have loved Cory since he was a little frog catching tree climbing kid. I remember when all of you use to play together. The main crew consisted of Johny, Jamie (back then), Joey, Ford, Cory, and you. You would all be out playing and climbing trees....... Your legs were too short......you might have been 5 back then, anyway Cory would hang back with you and help you get up to the 1st branch or help you get on the brick wall in front of our house on Winfield Rd. 
I felt about the Duecker kids just like I felt about the rest of my nieces and nephews. Life was so innocent then. Who would have known that you and Cory would end up together, helping each other with life's everyday obstacles. I wish that once again your only struggles were to reach up to that branch. 

Jill, your strength for the last 18+ months was incredible. I was amazed and only hope if put in a situation as you were I could be half as strong.

Cory was one of the kindest, sweetest, talented , would never talk negative about anyone persons you could ever meet.....and let's not forget about his homemade PIES! 
 
I'm pretty sure that Joey and Johny Ray met him at the gates and had him singing The Wabash Cannonball right away. And I'm sure he got a big hug from Momma Miears. Jill she will be watching over him for you.

I always thought of Cory as family while growing up, really going to miss hanging out, playing golf and listening to the family band play together without him.

During his last hours before he went to Heaven, I saw the two of them were holding hands. Cory looked down at Jill and Jill looked back up to him. At that moment, all you could see was love. A thousand words were spoken and no words were heard, and there was love. It was the most beautiful example of loved I had ever seen before. It was the type of love that words cannot express. A love that can be only understood by the one experiencing it. I have always considered Cory another one of my sons, and I could tell how much he loved all of us, especially Jill. He is loved by so many and will be missed. I can see him playing guitar with Joey and Johny up there right now.

We will always remember that Cory had a beautiful heart and soul. He had a kind and gentle nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. We were privileged to hear him play the guitar. He will be dearly missed. Jill we love you and are here for you anytime.

After my father died, Uncle Cory stepped up in being a male role model for my teenage years. He was an educator, entertainer, and such a goofball at times. I will always cherish the times that we played music together. He had told me a while back that I needed to get into IT because I would have a future in it. I'm just glad that I was able to do that very thing for him before he passed. I just hope I made him proud of my accomplishments.

I believe when someone who is loved so deeply by so many leaves us, that person is never truly gone.  They share a long lasting legacy of special memories that we treasure and celebrate for the rest of our own lives and that person finds life again - within our hearts, minds, and souls – often inspiring us to become better versions of ourselves.  Uncle Cory is one of those rare gems. 

He finds life again within me in many ways and there just aren't enough words to fully capture what Uncle Cory meant to me personally.  He was part of my life until just a few days after my 32nd birthday when he passed.  From birth, to walking my little toddler legs on the ceiling, to helping my Dad secure custody of me as a little girl, to fishing trips as a little kid, to being my advocate each time I pushed the limits as a teenager (which was A LOT), to graduation, to holidays and his legendary pancake breakfasts, to my wedding (and divorce many years later), to taking some time to visit me in Seattle just before embarking on an Alaskan Cruise, to making sure he got to see me EVERY time I traveled back to Texas for family visits, and everything else in between.  Throughout his life, he always gave the best gifts you could ever possibly give someone…the gifts of your time and unconditional love. 

Uncle Cory being a part of my life meant you were there too, Aunt Jill because I honestly cannot recall a time in my life when you two were not together.  I'm eternally grateful for the memories we all got to share together and even though our family will not be the same, I look forward to making many more memories.  You are an exceptionally strong, special lady and I love you very much.  Uncle Cory, I love you, miss you everyday, and will follow in the light of your graceful afterglow until we meet again.  Love always and forever, your niece Candace.

My memories of Cory are some of the oldest memories I have. I have known him since I was a wee lad, knee high to a grasshopper. He has been a great friend throughout my life and I have always considered him a brother. The stories I have are too numerous to say here but suffice it to say, Cory always plays fair, is a good winner or a good loser, and I shall often think of the fun we had playing at: automechanics, boat mechanics, baseball, football, softball, construction projects (tree houses, house projects, etc), music, music, MUSIC, golf, bowling, boating, skiing, cats, lawn work, patio projects, hanging out, watching football, eating, music, music, MUSIC, waterskiing, hiking, camping, swimming, celebrating, mourning, concerts, plays, gigs, basketball, puttputt golf, darts, pool, snooker,music, music, MUSIC!!! I shall not miss you because I carry you with me, everyday, everywhere at all times. 
It is my great pleasure to be your friend and brother.

Some of my best times with Cory were while playing music. He came over and played music at our "Tues night Jam Sessions". He was also a wonderful uncle to our new kittens that got a lot of play time at the Tues night Jam from their Uncle Cory! He could make them jump so high! What a kind and wonderful man.

Cory left this world a better place just by being in it.  All should aspire to make the difference he made.  Knowing someone like Cory makes you  want to be a better person, and I can't think of a better legacy.  I wish we hadn't taken time for granted and spent more together, but hearing all the wonderful stories and testimonies about how he spent his life makes us want to live ours more abundantly.

Whatever was going on, Cory was happy to participate.  Be it hard, sweaty work, boating, music, softball, golf, you name it.  Not just that, he did everything well and with a song in his heart.  I cannot recall a cross word coming out of his mouth.  Yes, he was blessed; but he was more of a blessing to those around him.  A fine man with a kind and virtuous heart.  Remember the good times, Jill!

Uncle Cory has always been, and will always be, my favorite. He never failed to give me encouragement or to tell me how proud he was of me, or to make jokes at my and everyone else's expense. One of my favorite memories is when he would come over on Christmas morning and make his pancakes. No one else could make pancakes or play guitar like he could. My favorite song he would play was Wave -- he never understood why I liked it so much, especially because there are supposed to be lyrics, but it was just the song that reminded me of him. And I will never understand how he learned the acoustic into to Crazy On You -- anyone who heard him play that didn't need any more convincing of what an incredibly talented musician he was. He and I shared a similar sense of humor, and up to the very end he made jokes that made me smile. It's so hard to accept that he's gone and that I'll never get to hear him play again, or to hug him, or to yell "string noise!" at him, but he'll always be right beside me and in my heart. He made the first 20 years of my life incredibly special, and I'll spend the rest of my life comforted, knowing that such an amazing, kind, and gentle soul, loved me so much. We're all lucky to have known him. There will never be another like him, and I will miss him every day. I love you, Uncle Cory, and I love you too, Aunt Jill.

Cory was a beautiful soul and I'm privileged to have met him. My heart is with all whom he touched , especially Jill, as he will be missed deeply by those who loved him. RIP Cory.

Cory was a great addition to the extended Miears family, and he--and his guitar--will be greatly missed.

A quiet fantastic guitar man....outwardly Cory never shared much with us....but with his guitar he shared the world.

With Cory you learned what good friends really are. When my family moved back to Texas he and Jill happily asked us to stay. When we arrived with a kid an 80lb dog a cat and a fish and a teddy bear hamster  he only flinched the once. He made everybody welcome. He loved my crazy sister of my heart and was a wonderful part of our family and our hearts.

I remember meeting Uncle Cory a long time ago when I was 7. He was so fun and laid back playing his guitar at a party. At the time my mom was dating his brother and eventually he became such a great Uncle to me. I am so lucky to be part of his loving family. I still remember how much he loves music and can still hear him playing. His rendition of stairway to heaven was the most memorable to me. Love you.

My favorite memory of Cory was at party at the Hounihan's house. We were a wine tasting contest. Jill got sick and made him come because they had already purchased the wine. If I am not mistaken, he proudly took a box of wine bottles home to her. He was the sweetest man and so glad that he touch my life.

I met Cory at the time of Johnny's passing, at Mama Susie's home, with Jill. We had such a warm, friendly visit. I was so happy to know they had become man and wife, after many years of such a loving relationship. I had them in my prayers for the past several months as Cory fought his long battle here. Now, he is part of that Heavenly Band of Angels, where there is no more pain and suffering, just great loss left for those who loved him deeply and shall miss his gentleness. The Guest Book was a beautiful story of his life and those who were a part of it. May the tears now being shed, bring one day, smiles as you recall those PRECIOUS MEMORIES he gave to all of you. My deepest sympathies to you Jill, Ford and Family.

As one of the oldest cousins, Jill is my little cousin and I have known Cory since I was a kid and we were the same age. I met Cory on Winfield road where my grandmother lived and my cousins the Bowers clan lived right down the street. We would come visit in the summers and we would play. Ford and Cory lived just around the corner and they would come and play too. So I always thought Cory was my cousin. So when he and Jill finally married they were kissing cousins, ha. Cory was a good man to my cousin Jill. He was Joey's best friend. I know Joey helped him cross over to become one of gods musical angels. We loved Cory and he will be truely missed. Jill you were a part of each others lives for so long. That is a love never ending and you will meet again. I love you Jill.

Jill, may God wrap you in his blanket of peace.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and also the family.

I haven't seen Cory in many years but he was always a kind, happy person and a good friend.  My condolences to Jill and the entire family.

Cory was the kindest, gentlest soul we know.  He made us laugh with his quick wit. He warmed our hearts with his hugs and his presence. And he always made us smile. Jamming with the family will not be the same.  Thank you Cory, for being there for me and the boys after Johny died.  You were a father figure to the fatherless, and you accepted Roger into the family and shared your birthday with him.  You will be in our hearts and minds forever.  Until we meet again, brother.  We love you.

The both of you are family despite time or distance. We will always be a phone call away.
