Dale Eugene Lange was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 24, 1926, and transitioned from this world on October 25, 2017 at his home in Houston at the age of 91. He fought a valiant fight against cancer for almost 20 years, and dementia the last several months. Dale was predeceased by his wife Elinor (Elli) (Rush) Lange and son, Randall Eugene Lange. He is survived by his children Dayle Karen, Albert and Cathy, his sister Peggy Bourke and her family of Ft. Worth and his dog, Fritz.
Dale was proud of his service as a Master Sergeant in the Army during WWII. He was in Berlin during the Allied bombardment and Germany’s surrender. He continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1954.
In 1955, Dale and Elli followed his sister Peggy and her husband, Hank Bourke, to Houston where they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. One of his proudest accomplishments was assisting his son, Randy, when Randy began Lange Mechanical with Randy as its lone employee. Dale became employee No. 2 - setting up the company’s accounts payables, receivables and handling all of the company’s finances as it grew into a successful commercial air-condititioning, heating and energy management company.
Elli worked as the company’s secretary until the Alzheimer’s became too debilitating and Dale retired to take care of her full time. Their son, Al, was the third employee of the company, and still works there today.
Dale helped instill a love of nature and the outdoors in his children, and they enjoyed camping in Colorado, sailing on Galveston Bay and many happy times at their home on Lake Livingston. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and – especially – his dogs.
Dale’s family would like to express their thanks to all his friends and neighbors who visited him and enriched his life. We would like to especially thank his long-time caregiver, Clara Hernandez, and dear friend AnneMarie Wallace, for their love and support during these last precious years.
A private internment service – with military honors - will be held at a later date.
“May the skies be bright above your head; may the flowers bloom along your path; may the birds sing to you their sweetest song”, dearest Father.
