Dalia (Valdez) Galvan was born on February 21, 1962, in Houston, Texas. She left this earth on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, after a sudden decline in her health. Dalia had just celebrated her 62nd birthday. The sky in Houston seemed dimmer after she left.
Dalia enjoyed an active career in administration and coordination in Houston working in shipping, health care, energy, and education. She married her long-time love, Jacinto (Jasso) Galvan, on Valentine’s Day in 2009. They attended St. Alphonsos Catholic Church where she and her family celebrated their life in Christ and enjoyed serving in church events and fundraisers.
If you knew Dalia, you know that she was the heart of her loving family. The sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of many. She loved celebrating their successes and the lives of those around her. You would find her at every birthday, Quinceañera, graduation and wedding of those in her circle of friends and large extended family.
Dalia was late to everything! Why? Because she was doing four other things on her way to the event she was late for. She always knew that she could squeeze in one more commitment, deliver a meal for someone, drop off someone else’s items to them, or give someone a ride and it would only make her a “couple of minutes” late. But she laughed at herself and carried on. If she was on time, she made sure everyone knew it so that they would remember that she could be on time. And she’d laugh at that one, too.
She is joining in eternal life with her parents Tirzo H and Maria Aurora Valdez, her three brothers, Tirzo Valdez, Jr., Johnny Valdez, Carlos Valdez and one sister, Helen Alvarado. Her six living sisters will carry forward with their families.
She is survived by her husband Jasso, her children Robert Perez Jr. with his wife Melissa, and Amanda Sanchez with her husband Jose’. She was grandmother to Robert Perez III, Sebastian Perez, Angel Perez, Noel Perez, Daniel Sanchez, Cindy R Sanchez, Sandy M Sanchez, Aaron Sanchez, Jose Sanchez Jr, Bryan Sanchez and Stephanie N Sanchez. Most recently her great grandchildren, Ariel Perez, Johnny Flores Jr., and Jovanny R Flores were the ones who filled her heart.
To honor Dalia, remember to find delight in everything you do, remember to say Yes when someone asks for help or when you see someone needing help, remember to volunteer to help on the hard projects as well as the fun ones, remember to love the people in your life more than they expect you to.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2024, 6 PM to 9 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM at Brookside Funeral Home – Lauder. Final viewing Tuesday, March 12, 2024 9 AM – 11 AM. She will then be taken to St. Alphonsus for Mass at 12 Noon. Burial Service will follow at 2 PM at Brookside Funeral Home – Lauder. All guests are invited to wear Purple, her favorite color.
