One of my favorite memories of Dana was when we took him as our umpire to Cooperstown, NY for a week of baseball fun. It all started when he missed his flight, then when he finally arrived late that night, he left his “man wallet” on the plane that had his money, drivers license and credit cards in it. He didn’t realize he left it until he got to the motel. After several calls to the airline, we decided to drive back the next morning and see if we could find it ourselves. Lucky for us someone turned it in and he got it back! We informed him that it was easier to care for 15 12 year olds that him!:) We loved giving him a hard time after that about that trip!
My amazing  memories of our 2 boys playing baseball their entire childhood would not be the same without Dana Langer. Most every time we played, he either was umpiring our game or was at the same facility, and it was always a pleasure to see him and visit with him! We always had to talk about the Sooners, my Cowboys and his Aggies. He would have loved the huge Aggie win over Bama last weekend!! His love of people, kids and life was infectious! I am thankful he was a big part of my family’s lives! RIP Langer! With much love, The Backs Family

Dana, I will miss you so very much! I loved you dearly! Your bright and shining smile made everyone smile with you! 

I remember when we met at John Wesley UMC, and 48 years later you were still such a dear friend. I truly believe that your faith began to blossom during that time at JWUMC. 

You were always such a Knight in Shining Armor! I remember when you took me to Homecoming one year and danced my feet off! You were such a sweet heart! We had some fabulous times when we were kids, and shared many lovely phone calls and chats as adults! The last time I saw you, you were doing your thing, refereeing a baseball tournament and I was moving.  

You blessed so many lives just by being yourself, and being a loving Christian man. You were so proud of your kids and so thrilled to be a Grandfather. I remember the phone call after you found out, and I thought you were going to burst with joy!

My thoughts and  prayers go out to your family, especially your lovely parents. 

I cannot imagine a world without you in it, but I'll see you later and will expect one of those wonderful hugs (and maybe a few funny stories because you always make me laugh!)

On of my greatest memories of you is when on Mother's Day, my first Mother's Day of being a mom of three, and I ended up leaving the church in an ambulance with my son, you took my other two children with you to your Mom's to celebrated Mother's day with them like they were your own.  You even put them down for naps. I am forever grateful that you were able to step in with out hesitation.

Thank you for your years of friendship.

My husband and I have known Dana for almost 40 years.  He was not just a friend,  he was family.   I am struggling with his passing,  because he has always been there for birthdays, holidays, weddings, deaths, vacations, sickness, etc.   I don't really remember a time when Dana wasn't a part of my life.   He was that kind of a man.   Loving, kind, generous, caring person.   He had a huge heart and always went out of his way to make you feel special.   I consider myself a lucky lady because I had Dana as a friend.  Dana Lou, you will be missed!  I love ya bunches.  XOXOXOXO

You are the love of my life. I miss you so much. Over sixteen years we have shared the most amazing life together full of ups and downs. You will always be my rock. I don't know how I will move on but I am sure you will be with me every step of the way. I love you with all my heart!
