Daniel Danny Kelly

DANIEL KELLY "Danny", age 81, passed away June 7, 2010 in Houston, Texas following a brief illness. Danny was born March 22, 1929 in New Stevenston, Scotland.He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen, his parents and seven other siblings.He is survived by his children: daughter: Lorraine Kelly Manuel (Ken); sons: David (Rosemary), Brian; grandchildren: Lauren, Alex, Joseph and Justin; brother: Francis Kelly; sister: Josephine Delaney, both of Scotland. Danny was in the British Army stationed in Singapore from 1949 to 1950. After the Army, he met Helen at the dances in Glasgow, Scotland. A job opportunity allowed Danny to move his young family in 1967 from Scotland to Detroit, Michigan, where he spent many years before retiring to Houston in 1994. Danny was an avid golfer, handyman and loved to dance. Danny and Helen loved to take weekend trips to the lakeshores in Michigan, and nearby Sarnia, Canada. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 pm, Thursday, June 17, in the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Katy Freeway.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association .
