“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day; and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
David Wayne Orphey was born in Houston, TX to Lawrence and Doris Orphey on July 29,1967. He was the youngest of their five children. David attended McDade Elementary, Francis Scott Key Middle School, and graduated from Kashmere High School in 1985.
After graduation, David embarked on a career in retail including stores such as Ventures, Montgomery Wards, and JCPenny. In 2008 he began a new career by joining his sister Doris at St. Luke's Hospital as a Nutrition Assistant where he remained employed until his untimely passing.
David was a man of faith. The most important thing in this life to David was God and his family. He was a provider, protector, and the best baby brother to his siblings. Often quiet around most people, David would eventually show his incredible personality. He was very witty and had a hilarious sense of humor. He would often use phrases such as "I'm in charge" or "I'm a VIP. He loved shopping and finding a good bargain. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday.
David has rejoined his loving mother Doris Brown Orphey, his father Lawrence Orphey Jr. and sister Lakeisha Styner in eternal life on January 28, 2024 at the age of 56.
Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Sherman, Mark (Tresa), Cynthia, Doris, Denise (Francis) Styner, Angie Styner, Milton Styner, & Allen Styner, his nieces, Margaret, Tamara White, Markeishia (Brandon) Kelly, and Shermaine, his nephews Sherman Auzenne, Mark Brandon, and Devlin Isadore (Paige). He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and cousins along with his great-nieces and nephews. David's physical presence will be sorely missed by all who loved him, but we should receive healing from his most important phrase he used, "God’s Got Me".
