David Abrego Suarez, born May 21, 1958, in Houston, TX to Avelina Abrego Suarez, and Antonio Ramirez Suarez, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the age of 66. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. We will miss his sweet kind soul and his big smile.
Dave was an avid cyclist, his passion for cycling extended beyond riding. He spent over 30 years supporting the cycling community through his work at Northwest Cyclery. Through the sport, he made many lifelong friends and was always eager to share his love for biking with others. Dave found his happiest moments outdoors, whether he was cycling along scenic routes, tackling mountain biking trails, hiking, or camping under the stars. Together with his partner, Cathie, he loved the freedom of RV adventures, exploring the beautiful parks of Texas. Together they visited more than thirty state parks and enjoyed every moment of their adventures. Their shared love of travel took them around the world. Some of their favorite places to visit include Colorado, Tahiti, Greece, and Norway. The memory of experiencing the Northern Lights together for the first time will always hold a special place in their hearts. Dave enjoyed creating little projects that brought joy to both him and Cathie, from building squirrel feeders in the backyard to adding special touches to their RV, like including the Toy Story characters on the back ladder.
He enjoyed spending time with his daughters, Tiffany and Carly by taking them on multiple camping trips in the hill country including their favorite spot, Pedernales Falls State Park, which they would take pictures at the same big rock for many years. He would take them to Memorial Park to ride the bike trails and loved taking them to his mountain bike races all around Texas. The girls remember him getting them ready for school by braiding their hair and making their lunches, which he would always write little notes on their napkins. He cherished watching his grandchildren’s sporting games and spending time with Cathie’s five children, their spouses and her grandchildren.
Always ready to lend a hand, Dave’s kindness and adventurous spirit touched the lives of everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Avelina Suarez, brothers Patrick and Michael Suarez, and brother-in-law Raphael Gomez.
