

Della Mae Jacobs was born on January 2nd, 1958 in Needville, Texas and was one of four children to Acie and Callie (Fletcher) Cal. Della accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Needville, Texas. She attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Needville, Texas. She was actively involved in high school as a captain of the Blue Jay Pep Squad and graduated from Needville High School in 1975. After graduating, she worked with an answering service. She held various roles in the retail industry, and worked as a dispatcher for several tow truck companies including her late husband’s company, Eddie’s Wrecker Service. Over the past two decades, Della worked as a certified nursing assistant caring for adults who were disabled or mentally handicapped and aging adults.
Della married her first husband in 1982 and their union ended a few years later. She is the mother of three children: Justin, Reginald,and Jacquelyn.
In 1988, she met Eddie Ray Sanderfer, her life partner of 33 years, and together they have proudly raised a blended family of 7 children.
Della was known for her love for her family, and her willingness to help anyone around her in need. She also loved gospel music and rarely missed a Sunday service at church. She most recently attended Silverlake Church in Pearland, Texas.
Della is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Sanderfer, father and mother, Acie and Callie Cal, brother, Louis Cal, sisters, Linda Hightower and Zelma Jean Cal, grandson, Javier Sanderfer, and great-granddaughter Azealia Sanderfer.
She is survived by her three children Justin Cal, Reginald Jacobs, Jacquelyn Melton (Cameron), step-children Christina Sanderfer, Raymond Sanderfer (Joanne), Candida Sanderfer (Jason), David Sanderfer (Jayme), nephew Adam Hightower-Moreno (David), 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
