WAN, Denis T. of Houston, TX, born in Hong Kong and formerly of Berkeley, CA, passed on August 2nd, after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Pauline Wan, with whom he happily celebrated 50 years of marriage. In addition to Pauline, he is survived by his two loving daughters and their families: Sylvia and her husband, Darrin Isaacs, her elder son Max Isaacs, and younger son Zane Isaacs, of Jupiter, FL; Simone and her husband, Jim Moran and their two children, Isla and Dylan, of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy Wan, and his wife, Sonia, and their eldest son, Wesley, and his three children, of Hong Kong and his late nephew Wayne and his wife and Charmaine and their two children of Hong Kong.
Denis received his PhD from UC Berkley for civil engineering. He worked on large projects for the government including working for the US air force engineering B-52 hangers. He later moved to Houston where he and his family spent most of the last 37 years. Denis had an incredible way of not only being a scientist, but also a philanthropist. When he went back to his beloved country of China and an earthquake hit the town of Sichuan where he was living, he took to the streets to volunteer to help and was interviewed by the local television stations for his good deeds.
Denis enjoyed working on mix-used real estate projects in Houston even into his late 70’s. His family enjoyed every vacation and holiday with him and will miss his humor, humility, and most of all, deep hearted kindness. A celebration of his life was held at the Wan home and Dignity Memorial. Please leave a personal expression on the Add A Memory tab.
