Dolores attended Stephen F. Austin High School and Baylor University. In high school, she was in ROTC and lettered in riflery. Throughout her life, she fancied herself as quite the marksman and enjoyed riflery at her beloved country farm. One of her great joys in life was sitting with her loving husband “Bubba” on their cabin porch overlooking “Lake Louie” watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Over the years, there were endless shenanigans and parties with their dear friends at the farm. One creative group of friends “the Biddy Bunch” sat around composing poems and singing songs such as the “Ode to the Outhouse” to celebrate the burning of the outhouse and indoor plumbing at the farm. She cherished her farmland and walking on the rich black soil and watching the waving crops of corn.
At home in Houston, Dolores was busy arranging flowers, making glass ornaments, cinnamon bears, sugar eggs, decorating soap, and other innumerable crafts. She had a big table and cajoled friends and family to sit with her to make these crafts. When she wasn’t crafting, Dolores was helping with numerous charities. She had a huge heart for those in need and worked tirelessly with such organizations as Memorial Assistance Ministries, Sister Gay at the Mission of Yahweh, and English as a Second language in neighborhood churches. She was actively involved in her church and immensely enjoyed her friends in Stephen Ministries. She always had a kind word of encouragement for anyone she visited with at nursing homes and hospitals. Always having an inquiring mind and a desire for adventure, she relished any opportunity to travel and to explore the world.
We are thankful Dolores has joined all her friends (and their husbands) as she was the last of the “Biddy Bunch” to arrive in heaven. We are sure they are all singing the Biddy Bunch song together, once again:
God bless the Biddy Bunch , Friends that I love. Stand beside them and guide them, To all the restaurants on earth and above. From the Grotto, to Oussie’s table, On to Brennan’s and Ruggles too.
God bless the Biddy Bunch , Faithful eaters so true. God bless the Biddy Bunch , And their waiters too!
Mom is now dancing in heaven with her husband Donald “Bubba” Lewis Leach Sr. and son Donald Lewis Leach Jr. and the entire Biddy Bunch crew. She is survived by her loving family: son, Larry Douglas Leach and his wife Raeanna Leigh Grizzle, daughter, Terriann Trostle and husband Jon Kim Trostle, along with grandchildren Bobby Leach and his wife Ashley Cruise Leach and son Ronan, Jessica Leach and Antonio Munoz, and Scott Trostle, and numerous nieces and nephews, who she all loved dearly.
We are thankful for all the adventures and fun she shared with Robert Milner and his family. We are also thankful for the care given to Dolores by Alexandra Liscano and all the caregivers and hospice workers. As we recently celebrated the life of our brother Lewis, where friends and family were able to give Dolores a big hug and see her in person, we plan now to have a private graveside funeral for Dolores. Since Mom always wanted to help those in need, if you are so inclined, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of her well-lived life.
