Donald “Don” Joseph Guedry was born April 10, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana and died peacefully on August 7, 2018 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert M. and Lucy Dayries Guedry and his wife of 54 years, Elisabeth “Betty” A. Guedry. He is survived by his fiancé Frances Knox, son Donald J. Guedry, Jr. and wife Lisa, daughter Denise Guedry, daughter Deanne Guedry Kaspar and husband Keith, daughter Debbie Guedry Amason and husband Dean and son Darren E. Guedry. Grandchildren Kellye Kaspar, Michael Kaspar and wife Kelsey, Sarah Guedry Mulle and husband Nathan, Catherine Guedry, Laura Guedry Lamers and husband Brent, Danielle Amason, Jordan Guedry and Ryan Guedry. Great-grandchildren Wyatt Guedry, Dominic San Martin, Cameron Kaspar, Carson Kaspar, Cody Kaspar and Autumn Mulle.
Don started his professional career with American Oil Company in New Orleans prior to his long tenure with Johns Manville Corporation which brought him and his family to Houston in 1963. When his children were younger, he had a real passion for coaching youth baseball/softball. After retirement, Don took great joy in raising and racing quarter horses. He never met a stranger and always had a good story to tell.
The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 9:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:30pm Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Earthman Funeral Home located at 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Funeral Services will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church located at 8825 Kempwood Dr., Houston, TX 77080 at 10:00am Friday, August 10, 2018. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77080.
