years of age. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his children, Sharon, Victoria
(Vicki), Mark, Paul and Thomas (Tom), daughters-in-law Nancy and Sandy, his son-in-law,
Don Holma, and grandchildren, Stephanie, James, Austin, and Emily.
Don joined the Naval Reserves when he was 17. He was so anxious to serve that his
parents had to sign for him. Because he loved it so much he stayed in the Navy for 29
years until he was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Houston
with a B.S. in Mathematics. He went to work for Texaco as a computer programmer in
the1960's.
He, then, went into business for himself and ran a successful tool rental store while
Cynthia ran the party side of the business. After that, he decided to raise livestock
and started a cattle ranch. His interests included motorcycles, genealogy, raising
cattle, honeybees, and chickens and farm life in general.
He didn't drink, smoke or gamble which everyone credited to his living to be 93 years and
1 month young. It could be said that his worst vice was the peanut butter and crackers
he ate every night after dinner.
He had a good sense of humor and loved receiving humorous birthday cards from his family.
Dad was the one that his children turned to whenever they had a problem of a technical
nature. He always had a solution. He will be greatly missed.
