Don graduated from Merryville High School in Merryville, LA and joined the Army. In 1956 he married his beautiful bride Anita May Smith. They had 4 children, Anita Kay Smith, Donnie Ray Smith, Robert Eugene Smith, and David Ray Smith. In 1979, Anita went to be with the Lord and in 1980 Don remarried Mary Lou Smith.
In addition to his mother Irene Smith, Don is predeceased by his wife Anita May Smith, Mary Lou Smith. His brothers, Milton Emmons and Lavelle Emmons. His sister, Delores Howard. His daughter, Anita Kay Smith.
His survivors include brothers, Robert Emmons, Wilford Emmons, Willie Berry, Dallas Berry and Billy Chapman. His sons, Donnie Ray Smith, Robert Eugene Smith, and David Ray Smith. Daughter in law, Jill Smith. Grandchildren, Tasha Smith, Shannon Smith, Steven Smith, Scott Smith and Shawn Smith, Casey Smith, Heather Smith and April Smith. There is also many great grandchildren, nieces and newphews.
A visitation for Donald will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
