

Born on July 20, 1944, Donnie lived a full and meaningful life centered around faith, family, hard work, and laughter. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and later attended Rice University Business School. Throughout his career, he worked in the automobile industry and in new home sales, where his intelligence, honesty, and ability to connect with people earned him the respect of many.
Donnie was a devoted member of the United Methodist faith and carried his values into every aspect of his life. He was known for his sharp mind, wise advice, and wonderful sense of humor. Friends and family often sought him out for guidance, and he always had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting, and fishing, and he especially took pride in completing eight full marathons—a testament to his determination and adventurous spirit.
Above all, Donnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Kirkpatrick and Catherine Ralston Kirkpatrick, and his grandson, Ryland James Kirkpatrick.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn Kirkpatrick; his children, Donna Vidaurri and husband, Tray Vidaurri, and Durwin Kirkpatrick and wife, Melisa Kirkpatrick.
He leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren: John Sikes and fiancée, Lacy McCann; Briena Mehr and husband, Chad Mehr; Mackenzie Kirkpatrick Lucas and husband, Keston Lucas; Serena Cazares and husband, Jason Cazares; Jeffrey Kirkpatrick; Michaelyn Kirkpatrick and fiancé, Colton Blair; Dillon Vidaurri; and Austin Kirkpatrick; as well as his great-grandchildren, Athena Holloway and Calum Sikes.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m.
Donnie’s legacy of love, wisdom, perseverance, and laughter will live on in all who knew and loved him.
