It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dora Villareal Lopez on April 22, 2017. She left this world at her home in Humble, TX, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Dora was born in New Caney, TX, on November 2, 1939. She graduated from New Caney High School in 1958. Her warm personality and strong leadership skills were evident early in life as she was crowned Homecoming Queen and served as Drum Major for the marching band. On December 11, 1960, she married Joe Lopez Jr of Sugarland, TX, and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an Operator. During her tenure she was honored for her quick thinking in helping save the life of a person who had called in for help. In 1971, she and her husband settled in Channelview, TX where they lived together rearing their six children. They would go on to establish, in 1975, Channel Fence Company, one of the most successful and long operating Hispanic owned businesses in the United States. In 2007, Dora was recognized for her leadership in the Hispanic Business Community by the George W Bush administration. In service to her local community, she was responsible for overseeing many of the political elections. She is survived by: her six children; Joel Lopez, Randolph Lopez, Perry Lopez, Susan Daniel, Loretta Aulds and Tracee Powell: Her fourteen grandchildren; Jarad Lopez, Jordan Harvey, Devin Aulds, Randi Berton, Sevron Daniel, Christopher Crowder, Adam Gobeaud, Darian Aulds, Sydnee Lopez, Truman Aulds III, Kloee Powell, Mason Lopez, Raylan Lopez and Cecilia Lopez. She is also survived by many beloved, cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joe Lopez Jr; her parents, Juan Villareal and Cesarea Ayalos Villareal; her siblings, Gilbert Villareal, Eva Musquiz, Annie Gonzales, Dolores Gutierrez; and her daughter in law, Susan Lopez.
