She is survived by her loving husband of over 56 years, Lee Carl, their two sons, Leland Carl and his wife Christel, and Brian Carl; their two grandchildren, Camden and Ken Carl, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Asa Whitmire and Gentis 'Pilgrim' Whitmire, as well as her younger brother, Gary Whitmire.
