A consummate mother and homemaker, Dot loved to crochet, knit, cross-stitch and sew. She has left her family with beautiful pieces of her handiwork to cherish for years to come.
Dot was most proud of her time served with the Houston A&M Mothers’ Club, serving on the Ways & Means Committee, Federation, and as President in 83-84. She cherished her friendships with the Rabbits.
Dot had an unwavering faith in God. As a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed the Women’s Circle and hand bells. She found joy by knitting prayer shawls for patients, after having received one herself while recovering from breast cancer surgery in 2000.
Dot was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Thomas C. (TC) Johnson, her daughter Kathryn Ann (Johnson) Forrester, and seven brothers and sisters. Dot is survived by her daughter Karen Johnson Hardin (Ed), three grandchildren, Brittany Leigh Hardin Tanguay (Jonathan), Klent Joseph Hardin, and Curt Hudson Forrester, and brother, Vernon Barkley.
The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Oaks Katy and Vantage Hospice for the loving care and assistance they have provided to Dot. The love shown to Dot by Cookie, Tee, Sammie, Doris, Olivia, Keisha, Shiripa, Nicole, Jesse, Victor, Cathy, Tanya, Linnie, Philip, Van, Moses and Rachel has been comforting to the family.
