Doug was a roommate at Rice University.   In my time of need when I woke up in pain, Doug drove me to the Methodist Hospital.  My issue was a kidney stone.   I will never forget that.

Hello, my name is Bruce Fleming. I'm a 1971 Kirkwood High School graduate. I ran track and cross country with Doug at KHS, but I was always behind him, never in front. 😉 
     As a member of KHS's state championship cross country teams in '67, '68 , and '69, and national championship team in '69, Doug's distance running talents were obvious. However, it was his quiet, Christ-like demeanor that I also remember. Such a kind gentleman.
     You may wonder why I'm so late with this acknowledgement of Doug. Well, I've been searching the internet the last few days for running results of guys I ran with in high school and college. That search led me to Doug's unexpected obituary. I'm saddened, but comforted, knowing that Doug is with his Savior. 

Doug was a shining example of a true Christian.  We feel blessed to have known him.  Julia, no one knows what you are going through.   May you be consoled by the fact that Doug is now in his mansion just over the hilltop.  Please know we are praying for the entire family.

Doug was a true friend to us. We had the honor and joy of working with him, Julia and family in the Kleinwood church of Christ for six years. We express our sincere sympathy to Julia and the family.

We feel so blessed to have known Doug.  He was a fine Christian gentleman and admired by many.  Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know only too well how hard it is to lose a loved one. My prayers are will you and the family.

Doug was one of the best engineers I every knew.  I am thankful for the time I knew Doug and the work we did together.  I will miss him.

We were so sorry to hear about Doug. We knew you both at Downers Grove C of C and remember Doug so fondly. May God grant you peace and comfort and the knowledge that you will be reunited in the heavenly places. Our love to you, Elaine, Laura and Mike Petry

I was fortunate to work with Doug at Walter P Moore and so enjoyed our conversations over the years.  He loved to tell me about his family and so loved you all.  May happy memories of Doug help you through this sad time.
