

Earl was born in Hempstead, Texas on March 20, 1921, to William H. Cooke and Lillian Ward Cooke, and grew up on a farm in Waller, Texas. Earl was a devout Lutheran and a faithful spiritual man throughout his life.
Earl served honorably in the U. S. Army Tank Destroyers Battalion during World War II in Europe. He received a Master’s degree from the Chicago Conservatory of Music in Piano. He met Gloria Jean Sewett who studied Voice, a soprano opera singer while achieving their degrees at the Conservatory. They married in June, 1948. They were married almost fifty years and raised three children. Earl retired from his career at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, as a Medical Sciences Liaison.
Earl dearly loved his family and was a devoted husband and father to his three children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria, son Daniel, and second wife, Emma Cooke. He is survived by his son Douglas Cooke and his wife Renee’, of Gettysburg, PA, his daughter Susan Cooke Peña of Houston, TX. He is survived by his grandchildren Rebecca Cooke Rodriguez of Washington D. C., Jeffrey Cooke of Newport, R.I., Sam and Bill Cooke of Austin, TX, their mother Kathleen Cooke of El Paso, TX, Angelina and Julia Peña and their father Lonnie Peña of Houston, TX, and great grandson Declan Cooke of Newport, RI.
Visitation will be held at Houston at Pat H. Foley & Company - 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018 | 713-869-6261 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday April 6. Services will be held in the chapel at Pat H. Foley on Friday, April 7th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a brief graveside service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway at 2:30 PM. There will be a memorial reception afterwards at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4040 Watonga Blvd, Houston, TX 77092.
