Edward was born December 13, 1956, in Houston, TX. He spent most of his life in Houston but grew up in Dearborn, Michigan where he attended school. Detroit is where his love for baseball started. His stepfather introduced him to the Detroit Tigers, and they attended several games together during those formative years. He also found his lifelong hobby of collecting baseball cards and knowing all the details of baseball. Edward had a photographic memory when it came to his favorite sport. After graduating from Fordson High School in Dearborn, he moved back to Houston where he attended the University of St Thomas for a while before joining his father as a butcher. His father owned a butcher shop on the northside of Houston and then later opened a restaurant, Eddie’s Country BBQ where Edward perfected making & smoking the sausage they served.
During his lifetime, Edward had numerous corrective surgeries for his hip and knee. He was the first juvenile ever to have a hip replacement and a knee replacement. Edward loved a good party with friends and family, he loved classic rock, and he was always up for a good time of fellowship and stories about his family and friends. He was a great listener and took things to heart. In later years while living in Assisted Living, he made it a point to know all the staff members’ names and their family history. He would graciously introduce them to us when visiting. Everyone was his family. He loved people and his love for God was deep. He prayed for everyone and wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life. Edward was a proud Catholic and prayed the rosary. He liked to lead other residents in his community in the weekly rosary service. Edward left a mark on everyone he spoke and prayed with.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Kuciemba, Sr; Elaine Andrews and Lynn Roy Andrews. He leaves behind his sisters Sherri Andrako and husband Dan Andrako of Katy, TX; Rita Gildenberg and husband Ron of Houston, TX; nieces Kristen Kyer, Lindsay Osborne, Kathryn Lopez, Sarah Gildenberg, Lauren Gildenberg; nephews Brad Kyer, Jon Osborne, David Lopez; grand-nieces Kingsley Tiemeyer and Caroline Kyer. Our families would like to give special thanks to the Sunrise Senior Living staff and Choice Hospice who took great care of him in his final days of life.
