Born in Chappell Hill, TX on February 5, 1936 to Anton and Helen Modrzejewski, Edwina grew up in a hardworking Polish Catholic farming community where Sundays were sacred and Christmas Eve was one of the most important celebrations of the year. She attended St. Stanislaus and then moved to Houston. She began working at Joske’s and soon met and married Ervin. She helped him run E&A Plumbing while seamlessly managing the house and mothering her 4 children.
Edwina was witty, kind, and always fashionable. She had a special connection with children of all ages and was a true matriarch. Edwina attributed her 70 years of marriage to “partner dancing” as often as possible. They loved to go out dancing with their friends and play cards. There was always music playing in the house and the smell of great food cooking. Edwina had a beautiful heart and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Edwina was a woman of deep faith and was a founding member of St. Jerome Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for 65 years.
