

Elaine is survived by her sons, James Snell Jr. and wife Sunny, Richard Snell and wife Kellie; grandchildren, Garrett Torrance, Austin Torrance, Kayla Luker, and Josh Morton; great grandchild, Vanessa Luker; sister, Gloria Guilfoyle; nephews, John Snell and wife Jan, James R. Snell and wife Beth, Arthur Henry Snell III and wife Linda, John Guilfoyle and wife Leonie; niece, Paula Hughes; great nephews and nieces, Eric Hughes and wife Chelsea, Alissa Asaff and husband Chris, Andy Hughes, Sam Hughes, Melissa Snell, Courtney Snell, Hannah Snell, Travis Snell, Charis Guilfoyle, Brenna Guilfoyle, and Aine Guilfoyle; friends, Lewis Hill, Amy & Joe Garner and Coty; as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston and First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck, Texas. Elaine was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston in 1930. Elaine attended Jefferson Davis High School and graduated one year early in 1945 with highest honors. She graduated 4th out of 278 students. As a result she received a Scholarship to further her education. Elaine was active in the Church and loved everyone, mostly children with whom she devoted much time teaching, caring for and helping in any way she could. She also was a regular contributor to many charitable organizations as UNICEF, American Cancer Society, Houston Food Bank and many more.
Friends may gather Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 9:00 am at Pat H. Foley & Company. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 am on July 25, 2023 at Woodlawn Garden of Memories with Reverend Jim Berggren officiating.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in honor of Elaine.
