

Mr. Elbert James also known as “Bubby” and “Slim” was born on August 1, 1948 in Houston, Texas. He attended Lincoln High School and was employed with Williams Brothers Trucking Company for several years. He also worked as Entertainment Game-Room Attendant in various locations.
He was a member of the Lyon Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Houston for several years, then moved his membership in 2009 to service the Lord with The Apostolics of Northeast Houston under the leadership of Dr. Tony McGrew Jr. Pastor. He served as member of the Men’s Brotherhood and was truly faithful until the end of his life.
He had various hobbies, such as playing cards, dominoes, fishing, and watching NBA Basketball. He enjoyed times with his family and friends, just talking about old times and looking forward to all future endeavors. He loved to travel, take long road trips, and to listen to his favorite gospel “oldies” Lee Williams & The WC’s such as: I Can’t Give Up, Another Blessing, Cooling Water, Wave My Hand, and In My New Home.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lilian James and his son Elbert James Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory Eula Simmons (Daughter), Dean James (Son), Sjolanda Nicole Antoine, Chris Eglin, Crystal Carl, and Amari Carl, as well as his longtime friend “Lovely” and special friend LaShonda Smith. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren: Michael James, Craig James, Germarcus James, Jessica James, Tony James, Camryn James, Jaylen James, Kobe James, King James, Makyah James, McKenzie James, Mikayla James, Jermarcus James, Jason James, Jermichael James, Anaya James, Amerah James, Alaina James, Ijaley Williams, Camari Carl, Taryn Williams, Shaina James, Journey Antoine, Paige Eglin, Legend Brown, AaDonis Mitchell, Loyalty Green, Robin Cambric, his cousin Betty, God-Mother Ms. Emma, and his God-Sisters.
