On August 1, 1931 a baby boy was born to Atha Stewart and Harold Winn in Colorado County. He was baptized at an early age. He attended public schools in Colorado County. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War (1952 – 1954). He received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant.
He met and married Helen Smith, and no children were born to this union. Later, he married Lillie Mae Culbertson, they had two children: Lillie Winn and Elmer Winn, Jr. He worked until retirement as a Long Shoreman.
He accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Gambrell.
On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, Elmer transitioned from this life at the home of his niece and is now resting in Peace. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ernest Winn and Bennie F Berry, his father, Harold Winn, his mother Atha Stewart, stepfather Bennie L. Berry, and his wife Lillie Mae.
Elmer leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Lillie Winn and Elmer Winn, Jr. (Yolanda); his two sisters: Bertha Berry, Ruby Skinner (Wilfred); one sister-in-law, Ella Jean Berry and three cousins: Laura Bankston, Bertha Lemons and William Allen. Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of family, extended family, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
