As a teenager, Elouise moved to Houston with her sister Gannie under the protection of their older brother Paul. Not long after moving to Houston, she met and married her late husband Walter Lee Marks. They established their home in north Houston and reared eight children: Thomas, Ronnie, Ira, Walter II, Shirley, Josephine, Kenneth and Anthony.
She attended The Lord’s House Church where she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She was also a faithful member of Cornerstone Holiness Church under the spiritual guidance of the late Bishop William L. Sherrod, then later became a devoted member of Holy Valley Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Billy Carrington. Elouise was a true believer of the word of God and a fervent prayer warrior.
Elouise was a vibrant woman of God with a playful sense of humor. She loved laughing and always greeted you with a warm hug and a smile. In her pastime you would often find her playing her piano, singing, sewing or reading a passage from her favorite Daily Bread book. Elouise found strength in serving her family and friends and was a beacon of hope to those who lost their way. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grands with an unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Mr. Walter Lee Marks; her parents; sisters, Juanita Spurlock and Gannie Lee Justice; brother, Paul Norris and granddaughters, Yolanda & Irene Brown.
She is survived by her eight children Thomas, Ronnie, Ira, Walter II, Shirley, Josephine, Kenneth and Anthony, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
