Elvira “Vera” Ramon Quintero, a devoted wife, cherished mother, proud grandmother, and esteemed friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age 73. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and joyful presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in Houston, Texas on December 18, 1951, to Concepcion Ramirez Ramon and Robert Perez Ramon, Elvira was nurtured in a warm and close-knit family alongside her three siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. From an early age, she was shaped by the love and kindness that surrounded her, values she would carry throughout her life and instill in her own family.
Elvira’s life was beautifully marked by love, particularly the enduring love she shared with her husband, Marcelo Quintero Sr., whom she met during her school years. They both graduated together from Jefferson Davis High School, Class of 1970. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a lifelong romance, and they married on January 20, 1973. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and mutual devotion.
Elvira worked with pride and dedication at Texas Commerce Bank, continuing her career through its evolution into J.P. Morgan Chase until her retirement. She found great fulfillment in her work and treasured the many friendships she formed over the years.
Beyond her career, Elvira’s heart belonged to her family and community. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: sharing breakfast at Denny’s with Marcelo, spending time with loved ones, giving thoughtful gifts, dancing to her favorite music, and filling every room with laughter and light. Her generosity, kindness, and consistent positivity left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.
Elvira is preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion and Robert Ramon, and her beloved brothers, Robert (Bobby) and Armando Ramon. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Marcelo Quintero Sr.; her loving sister Carmen Monteforte (Cosimo); her three children: Monica Stewart (Michal), Marcelo Quintero Jr. (Ingrid), and Anna Quintero; and her six adoring grandchildren: Joseph Reyes, Joshua Reyes, Zaphira Quintero, Zoey Quintero, Maxton Stewart, and Zurich Quintero.
Her family will honor her life with services at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary service.
