Elwanda Conway went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2020. She was born on July 24, 1949 in Ft. Worth, Texas to parents Shelby and Elnora Dansby. Elwanda moved to Houston, Texas at the age of 4 years old. She was raised and baptized at 5th Ward Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with Greater New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Kanavis Jackson. She attended public school in Houston, Texas and graduated from Kashmere Sr. High. From there she went to Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and received a Master's degree in Education. She retired from Aldine ISD after 30 years of service. She then joined the IOTA PHI LAM BDA Sorority, ALPHA KAPPA Chapter, where she served as the Financial Secretary.
Elwanda was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jimmy Conway, two brothers Avie Skyler and Paster Kanavis Jackson. She is survived by one daughter Ticey Kees (Jermain), one son Rashad Conway (Pauline), one sister Dorthy Thomas, one brother Shelby Dansby II (Wilma), four grandchildren: Jordan, Jered, Cassius, and Herschel.
