Emma Lee Pearson Hamilton
Emma Lee Pearson was born on October 21, 1935 to proud parents, Richard Pearson and Addie Williams Pearson. She grew up in Palestine, Texas in the Alderbranch Community. She attended elementary school at Union Hope and graduated from Henry High School. She later attended a trade school to become a nurse. During her later years, she cared for many elderly patients.
During the summer of 1954, she joined in marriage to Eddie Edward Hamilton, Sr. To this union, six children were born.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Hope Baptist Church in Elkhart. After moving to Crockett, Emma and her family united with St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Groves. Emma immediately became one of the most loyal and faithful members St. Luke would ever have. She was a very active and dedicated member of every auxiliary in the church. She was a loyal member of the usher board where she trained many ushers to become doorkeepers in the house of the Lord. When the mission department was formed at the church, she became a vital part of this ministry. This is where she served at the local, district and state level. At the MBGCT Women and Girls conference, she was honored for her dedication to mission work. She was a proud member and President of the Nurses Board. While on the culinary committee, she served every year as the lead for the Easter Sunrise Breakfast serving a delicious, nutritional breakfast to all. Emma was a member of the program committee, secretary of the Adult Women Sunday School Class, and a dedicated member of the nursing home committee where she diligently visited many nursing homes to minister to the elderly. Rain, sleet, sunshine, or snow, she was always in the house of the Lord. She was such a trusted member, she had keys to the church making sure she was the first there to open the church for the members. She actively traveled throughout the state of Texas with the church and members attending different meetings, and Baptist Conventions.
Emma was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and so much more to others. Her generosity was well known throughout the community.
She would distribute fresh vegetables and fruit given to her throughout the Freddie Dean/Ralph Bunche community. In addition to her life’s activities, Emma was at one time a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
