Eric Renee McVay April 26, 2002 – May 20, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Eric Renee McVay, who left us far too soon at the age of 23 on May 20, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

Born on April 26, 2002, in Houston, Eric brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a proud graduate of Davis High School, where he was known not only for his bright spirit and strong character but also for his dedication to sports and service. Eric spent his youth and teenage years playing baseball, football, and tennis—activities he was passionate about and that shaped many of his closest friendships. He also took pride in being a member of the ROTC program, where he showed leadership and commitment.

Eric worked alongside his father at Tha Swap Shop, where he was admired for his strong work ethic, natural talent for fixing things, and big dreams of one day starting his own company just like his dad. His hands were as skilled as his heart was generous, always ready to help someone out or crack a joke to lighten the mood.

Eric’s sense of humor was one of his most cherished gifts—he had the rare ability to make anyone laugh and find joy even in the smallest moments. His presence could fill a room with warmth and ease.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Keith Robert McVay Jr. and Adriana Margarita Maldonado; his siblings, Keith Robert McVay III and Trinity Florentina McVay; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Eric was preceded in death by his beloved relatives: Juan Maldonado, Keith Robert McVay Sr., and Marcus McVay.

A visitation for Eric will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022, with a rosary at 6:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Eric’s laughter, kindness, and love will live on in all of us.
