

A baby girl was born to Mr. Tom Latson, Sr and Ida Johnson Latson on may 31, 1928 in Washington County, Texas in the Copelyn Springs Community. They named her Ernesting. She was the youngest of ten children. Ernestine attended Copelyn Springs Schools and later moved to Houston. She lived in the Acreage Home Community.
She came to Christ at the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Parker Sr. She later moved to the Carverdale Community and joined Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership Rev. Blair. She later joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor George Gray where she remained a member until her death.
She is preceded in death by her father, Tom Latson, Sr., mother, Ida Latson, bothers Ernest Brooks Latson, Pomp Latson, Olive latson, Tom Latson Jr., Delmus Latson, Johnnie Latson, Haleis Latson and Riley Fluellen Latson. Sisters Rosie Latson and Lula Mae Clayton.
She never had any biological children but claimed so many sons, daughters and granddaughters.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Mary Riley (Melvin) who she claimed as her daughter and Pat Gardner and Kimberly Vaults (Reginald) as her granddaughters. Nieces, Diane Latson and Larenda Latson.
She also leaves a host of chosen sons and daughters, many loving neighbors and friends.
A graveside service for Ernestine will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at BLOCK CEMETERY, 2517 Copelyn Springs Rd., Brenham, TX 77833.
